Acanthus mollis, commonly known as bear's breeches, is a herbaceous perennial plant native to the Mediterranean region. It's known for its large, glossy, deeply lobed leaves, which are often used in classical architectural ornamentation. In summer, it produces tall spikes of white or purplish flowers, each hooded by a purplish bract. It can grow up to 1 meter in height and prefers a partially shaded location with well-drained soil.
